My obsession for independent Etsy makeup stores was refueled recently with scaredy cat cosmetics.

So just five questions

1 … well dual question first why/how got started and came up with company name

2 what is your inspiration for colors and their names?

3 do you have a beauty or company motto saying etc

4 what does the future hold for scaredy cat?

5 anything you want to share that I might have missed asking?

**************************************************************************************************

1. I got started after working as a graphic artist at a local advertising studio. We worked with a lot of fashion brands and I always really enjoyed watching the make up artists work during our photo shoots. So, I began teaching myself how to work with powders and pigments. This lead to me learning how to make my own colors, pigments, powder, and skin care products.

The company itself was started during a rather difficult time for my family. The recession had hit us hard and starting such a project at that time was pretty intimidating. I have a little orange tabby cat that always knew how to cheer me up when I needed it. He became the inspiration for the name and logo. He’s even helping me now by resting his chin on my keyboard.

2. The inspiration for the colors and names come from so many different places. I often pull from nature for my color inspiration, be it a flower I saw that day or a colorful bird I saw in a nature documentary. The names are often puns that relate to the color or label illustration. I also have a soft spot for internet terminology (e.i. Teal Deer and Flounce Cat).

3. I don’t have an official company motto, but I live by the belief that beauty is self-confidence applied directly to the face.

4. We are currently going through a lot of changes. My family just purchased some real estate and we will be building new and bigger facilities. This should allow us to expand into more product lines. I have so many things I want to get onto the market (especially these nail polishes with their super adorable bottles).

5. I wish I could think of something, but forgive me I’m drawing a blank (spent the day on the build site and I’m just beat). Thanks for giving me this opportunity to chat with you. Cheers!
***********************************
I think the pictures speak for themselves. And I can attest they stay on my oily kids so they will yours. I love how they’re subtle shades then bold ones depending on your mood.

Only con is though the vials hold a lot and are super cute they are hard to get the pigment out. But they were a draw to my purchase so for me easy to overlook and I depot most everything anyway.

Disclaimer I purchased with my own money (five vials are eight dollars with shipping) and the opinions are my own. I was not asked to review then either.

Well you be trying them?

July 2014 favorites

I like to keep it to  five as I usually have a lot of favorites. My five for this month is

  • Manicure/pedicure with a summer shade
  • From my ipsy bag the Clear Skin Laboratories spot treatment. It really does work!!  I felt one coming on and used it. The next morning so feeling of soreness that is a tell-tale sign.
  • Urban Decay Matte shades in the Urban Decay Basics. Love this palette.
  • Another ipsy find Bare Minerals sample of the 5 in 1 cream shadow
  • Lastly, I found this gem again in my stash. Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment. It is very nourishing.

What were your favorites for the month?

Sunday Synopsis 08/03/2014

I missed last week’s but I am back. :D I went back to my home town and did a family reunion and the county fair. It was a lot of time to spend with my children and parents lol. Nothing else much to add in the intro here.

As usual my fave LOTD. This is my new hair cut. My hair was in decent shape for all the dying/bleaching but I just wanted a “look” and bangs. I loved it at first but now I am wondering if the bangs show really make my smaller eye obvious???? Anyone know any good website or youtube videos on how to even out eyes? TIA :D

image

Here is my EOTD. It is Scaredy Cat cosmetics for eyeshadows. which I have a review coming up in the next week or early week after.

image

And sometimes us girls just have to be ok with no makeup. Here I am sweaty at the family reunion with my oldest son.

I tried getting a part time job at the local CCO with no luck. I thought it would help me learn to match foundation and a lot of inspiring makeup artist work counters. Where I live there is no mall with major stores. I have decided to join Mary Kay in hopes of doing the facials and make up will teach me for my real goal. I am stagnant right now in the marketing and experience to be a make up artist. I will not be shilling it on here But may talk about how it has increased my skills not so much product. I still love all kinds of makeup :D Anyway just a warning!

I think that’s enough as not much going on this week with the vacation and then getting sick (stupid tonsillitis)

Beauty Hot Weather Staples August 2014 Blog Hop

I am late posting this as I wanted to by noon yesterday BUT my cubicle job got hectic and well. I apologize to the ladies in the FB group who we monthly hold these blog hops with. I have added their links at the bottom for your pleasure. :D

The theme is Hot Weather Staples and here are mine.

016

a setting spray to help combat the melting effect you can sometimes get

047

A great bronzer. In the summer you can go shimmerier but I still prefer Matte. NYC has an inexpensive one that is excellent for lighter skin tones.

bh primer

Eye and Face Primers… Need I say more :D This line from BH cosmetics is actually turning out well worth the price.

023

The summer’s Fab Fit Fun box has all your essentials. Water bottle, chapstick, shaving supplies, and most importantly sun screen! I will have a review of the box later this week.

013

Get them brows to stay in place. Tarte has a good waterproof brow mousse but so does anastastia and NYX.

042

Lastly, have some fun with your hair. Go lighter … you don’t have to go drastic like me but add some highlights to give that sun kissed look. No it doesn’t beat the heat but it can make you feel sexier!!

GRWM: Interview time

I had a job interview two weeks ago. I found out yesterday I got it. YEAH!! Here is how I achieved a low key but glowy look. (all items purchased by me to use.. not sure if disclaimer needed or not :D)

The eyes: I can often go overboard (but fun) on my eye makeup. I wanted to go all natural so I used my usual base of Boots No7 Beautifully Matte (to control my oily lids) and Lorac eye primer. I then used my sample from ipsy of the Bareminerals 5 in 1 eye bb cream thing. I love it and I have tried several different cream naked like cream shadows. I then used an elf point brush and applied Naked2 from the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette. I used my usual Tarte mousse on my eyebrows. I highlighted with my RMS Highlighter cream, Urban Decay whiskey for my waterline and tightline, and two kinds of mascara. LOreal original voluminous for first layer and Elizabeth Mott for the second layer.

The Face: I went super simple. I primed with Benefit’s Porefessional. Applied It Cosmetics light BB Fluid foundation (LOVE IT) I set it with a sample of Silk Naturals Perfecting powder. No contour but did highlight with the RMS again. I used City Colors Be Matte Blush. I set it with Urban Decay’s All Nighter. I decided to use my new Ipsy Bareminerals lipstick and a lip pencil from Ipsy too by Starlooks. I used the three face brushes below. An Ecotools for the blush, Bareminerals for the powder, and the Shany foundation brush for … well the foundation :D

Viola… the end results! Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

QVC Today’s Special Value, EDIVV and Being MIA

Hello Beauties,

Sorry I haven’t posted in a few days I have been travelling with limited access to my photos to include in posts. Then I got a case of tonsillitis. BBBOOOOO!

I am finally feeling better and getting caught up with posts. I plan on writing a few ahead so I don’t get behind like that again. I always say that to myself then I never do but I am in the mood to write and showcase some posts I have been wanting to do.

SO all that aside. I have to tell you about today’s QVC TSV (Today’s Special Value)

I love qvc way too much. The TSV today is a new Mally product. A sponge foundation. I am so in love with IT cosmetics that I had to try a different one. Plus it has several exclusive things at a great price. 163.00 is retail and with shipping it’s a smidgen over 70.00. Hell YA! For a shop-a-holic like me it is a no brainer plus I want to try most of what is in the kit.

Here is a picture and I got it in fair. That is the one thing I hate is you can’t tell the colors. But I figure I can bronze it up and my It cosmetics one is in light so better to have a more winter one. Right???

To learn more check out the website here. There is an interesting video sharing how the foundation works.

Lastly I found an awesome makeup swap website. Edivv.com The video explaining how it works can be found by clicking on the video below. The link to Edivv will give me a chance to earn sephora gift cards. It is the only “compensation” like item in mentioning this site and only if you use my link to join. I have not swapped anything yet as just joined but I have an item or two listed.

How eDivv Works

Ok well that is it for now. Comment, questions, random thoughts below. Follow either on wordpress or bloglovin please :D and if you don’t mind my social media sites as well found to your right. ———->>>>
